Energa power buys stake in 39.9 MW PV Losienice photovoltaic farm project

Poland's largest energy concern Orlen's subsidiary, power utility Energa investments portfolio has expanded with the addition of another photovoltaic farm, PV Losienice, with an installed capacity of 39.9 MW, under construction in the Koscierzyna municipality (Pomeranian region). Energa Green Development (EGD), a subsidiary of Energa, has acquired a full stake in the special purpose vehicle implementing the project.

Energa said in a press release that the new photovoltaic farm will consist of more than 64,500 photovoltaic panels and 95 inverters, installed on an area of more than 43 ha. It is estimated that it will be able to produce enough energy to power nearly 20,000 households in a year.

"In response to the needs of the energy transition, Energa Green Development has consistently pursued its extensive development portfolio, which currently includes projects with a total capacity of almost 600 MW. The acquisition of the Losienice PV farm is another step towards strengthening the RES potential in the Energa Group and greening our generation mix," CEO Slawomir Staszak said, quoted in a press release.

The general contractor of the investment, Electrum Concreo, has already received a NTP (notice to proceed) order to start construction work. According to the investment schedule, the occupancy permit for PV Losienice should be issued by the end of 2025.

Currently, the Energa Group has its own investments in renewable sources (mainly PV assets, but also the Szybowice wind farm) with a total capacity of nearly 280 MW. The largest of these are PV Kotla (Lower Silesia region) with a capacity of 130 MW and PV Mitra (Greater Poland region) with a capacity of 65 MW. There are also pending acquisitions of RES projects with a total capacity of around 300 MW.

The installed capacity of the photovoltaic assets of the Energa Group, which is part of the Orlen capital group, is currently about 125 MW, which is about 19 percent of the capacity of all its renewable sources and allows for the production of enough energy to power about 62,500 households during the year.
