Poland with 60 percent of its oil imported from Saudi Arabia in Q4 2024, most in EU
In the fourth quarter of 2024, Poland imported 60 percent of its total oil supplies from Saudi Arabia, the largest percentage in this category in the European Union, Poland's central bank NBP said in its full balance of payments for the period. Norway's share of oil imports fell below 20 percent, and for the first time in 15 years, oil was imported from Algeria.
"In the fourth quarter of 2024, oil supplies rose to 6.4 million tonnes, 12.0 percent higher compared to the end of 2023. After the end of supplies from Russia, the geographic structure of crude oil imports continues to change. Saudi Arabia is systematically strengthening its position as the most important supplier," NBP wrote.
"At the end of 2024, 3.8 million tonnes (i.e. nearly 60 percent of all oil deliveries in the period) were imported from this country. This volume of imports makes Poland the most important buyer of Saudi oil in the European Union," it added.
Supplies from Norway were noticeably smaller than in previous quarters as Norway's share in imports of this crude fell below 20 percent.
In the fourth quarter, deliveries from Guyana returned after a break of more than a year. Nearly 700,000 tonnes of crude were delivered during the period in question. Deliveries of oil from the US are becoming more regular. In the fourth quarter, nearly 500,000 tonnes were imported from this country.
Single deliveries from Nigeria and Algeria were also recorded - for the first time in fifteen years.
