Poland's new suggested benchmark rate WIRF- renamed to POLSTR
Poland's Steering Committee of the National Working Group for the reference rate reform (KS NGR) has selected the name POLSTR for the suggested new benchmark rate WIRF- index, which is supposed to eventually replace the WIBOR benchmark rate, the committee announced in a statement. The name POLSTR stands for Polish Short Term Rate.
On December 10, 2024 the KS NGR suggested the WIRF- index as an eventual replacement to the WIBOR benchmark rate.
"Having reviewed opinions on legal, market and marketing aspects, the KS NGR on January 24, 2025 decided to select the target name POLSTR (Polish Short Term Rate) for the index proposal," the committee wrote.
The POLSTR is supposed to eventually become the key reference index to be used for financial contracts, financial instruments and investment funds.
