Allegro.eu S.A.Allegro e-commerce aims for owning 8,000 parcel locker machines by end-2025
Listed e-commerce platform Allegro is raising its target for the number of its own One Box parcel machines at the end of this year to over 8,000 from the previously assumed 7,000, CEO Marcin Kusmierz told a video conference. The company hopes that the Allegro Delivery programme will continue to grow and that the volume of shipments handled by Allegro will increase.
"In the second quarter, we had over 6,000 of our own One Box parcel machines. (...) We are seeing growing interest from our customers, but we also took advantage of the moment to negotiate with parcel machine manufacturers to obtain better prices and thus increase our target for the whole year," CEO Kusmierz told the video conference.
"Previously, we said that the number of machines at the end of the year would be 7,000. Now we have raised our ambitions by over a thousand, so we expect that by the end of December this year, the number of our parcel machines will exceed 8,000 and will be an integral part of the Allegro Delivery programme," he added.
Allegro Delivery offers the largest network in Poland of approximately 33,000 parcel machines and approximately 37,000 other collection points, including not only Allegro's One Box machines, but also the Orlen Paczka, DHL and the newest partner, DPD, networks.
"We also offer other alternative methods or delivery locations as part of the marketplace, so this is absolutely the most comprehensive offer for customers," Allegro's CEO said.
As reported, thanks to Allegro Delivery, the share of shipments handled by Allegro has increased to 34 percent.
"The Allegro Delivery programme and the volume managed will grow because we have more partners, a better network, a wider range of services and we see a very high level of user satisfaction," said Kusmierz.
When asked if Poland-based and Amsterdam-listed parcel locker operator InPost could join the Allegro Delivery programme, the CEO replied: "All major players on the Polish market have been and are invited to join the Allegro Delivery programme, and we hope that after DPD joins the programme, we will soon see other important players."
The CEO pointed out that the programme aims to improve the shopping and delivery experience for consumers, but also supports merchants by giving them a wider choice of delivery methods.
"This is not and never has been a programme aimed at anyone," Kusnierz stressed.
"InPost has also been invited to join the programme. Ultimately, we want to see all major players there," he added.
