Energa SAEnerga Operator has annex increasing national recovery plan KPO loan amount to PLN 9.38 bln
Energa Operator, the unit of Poland's largest energy concern Orlen's subsidiary Energa, has signed an annex to the loan agreement with Poland's state development bank BGK for EU funds under the national recovery plan KPO, increasing the loan amount from PLN 7.66 billion (EUR 1.8 bln) to PLN 9.38 billion (EUR 2.2 bln), Energa said in a press release.
The other terms of the agreement remain unchanged.
The funds disbursed under the agreement are intended exclusively for the refinancing of eligible expenses incurred by the company for the development of smart power grids in 2022-2036, supporting Poland's energy transition.
The loan bears interest at a fixed rate of 0.5 percent per year. The company is obliged to repay the loan by February 19, 2050.
"The modernisation of national distribution systems is essential for the decarbonisation of the Polish energy sector and its effective transformation. As progress is made on further key investments, including offshore wind farms, the networks will have to meet the needs of dispersed and highly flexible energy production to an even greater extent than at present," said Energa's CEO Slawomir Staszak, quoted in the press release.
"That is why it is so important for the Energa Group to implement the largest investment programme in our history in distribution infrastructure, its modernisation and digitisation," he added.
