Listed copper and silver producer KGHM's CEO Remigiusz Paszkiewicz intends to focus on improving the group’s operations, exploring new resources and reducing energy costs, he announced at a press conference on Thursday.
CEO Paszkiewicz pointed to KGHM's development, increased production efficiency and a cost optimisation programme as his priorities.
KGHM will present a new development strategy at the end of the second quarter, he announced.
"Part of the strategy will focus on securing cheaper energy, as we are the largest consumer of energy and gas. We want to develop a programme that will keep energy prices well below current levels for offshore wind power and nuclear energy," the CEO said.
"We want to place a strong emphasis on improving the functioning of the group by stepping up our efforts to enhance corporate governance, make better use of the group’s companies, and utilise local content," he added, pointing out that the group owns companies with a "great potential."
CEO Paszkiewicz also announced that he intends to consider further diversification in terms of sales.
"We are also considering seeking out further opportunities to create added value from our overseas assets, whether that be in Morocco or elsewhere. We are taking a broad view and looking for opportunities with significant potential," he said.
