mBank SAmBank lender expects PLN 800-900 mln decline in net profit in 2026 due to CIT act amendment
Listed lender mBank's net profit in 2026 will decrease by PLN 800-900 million (EUR 188.8-212.4 mln), following the signing by Poland's President the bill into law, amending the corporate income tax for banks and certain other financial institutions, mBank announced in a market filing.
As mBank pointed out, the actual impact on the net result will depend on the gross result achieved in 2026.
"Furthermore, the bank has estimated the impact of the change in the corporate income tax rate on the value of the deferred tax asset based on balance sheet data available as of September 30, 2025. The value by which the deferred tax asset would increase amounts to PLN 125 million and would positively affect the net result of the mBank group," the lender added.
mBank stated that the actual impact of the change in CIT rates on the net result in the fourth quarter of 2025 may differ from the stated amount due to fluctuations in the lender's balance sheet positions.
On late Thursday, Poland's President Karol Nawrocki signed a bill amending the CIT act and the act on tax on certain financial institutions.
According to the adopted bill, the income tax paid by banks will amount to 30 percent in 2026, 26 percent in 2027 and 23 percent from 2028. The regulations are to come into force on January 1, 2026.
