Orlen SAOrlen energy delivers 100 mln m³ of natural gas to Japan, expanding global LNG presence
Poland's largest energy concern Orlen has completed a contract for the delivery of 100 million cubic meters of natural gas to Japan, the company said in a press release. The contracting partner is Osaka Gas.
"Orlen has delivered LNG to the Japanese market for the first time in its history. We consistently fulfil the commitments outlined in our strategy. By conducting our core business, we strengthen the region's energy security and independence. At the same time, we expand our operations, entering markets where we were not previously present," said Orlen’s CEO Ireneusz Fafara, quoted in the press release.
The CEO added that the agreement with Osaka Gas is an important step in foreign expansion with potential for further cooperation.
"Cooperating with reliable partners like Osaka Gas allows us to build lasting and effective relationships in the global LNG market. We have a contract portfolio of about 6.5 MTPA in the coming years, giving us flexibility and the ability to deliver cargoes to the most promising markets," said Orlen's deputy CEO Robert Soszynski.
"Transactions such as the delivery to Japan are a natural part of implementing our strategy to strengthen our trading position and confirm our growing role in the global LNG supply chain," he added.
It was noted that Orlen has been systematically developing LNG expertise for several years, investing in port infrastructure, a fleet of gas carriers, and trading offices in key locations worldwide. The company is also expanding LNG trading functions, which builds its international position and allows it to respond in real time to global market needs.
Osaka Gas, with over a century of tradition and a strong position in Japan, is a key partner for further building trade relations in Asian markets.
