PGE power launches tender procedure for battery energy storage facility construction

Listed power utility PGE's renewables unit, PGE Energia Odnawialna, has launched a tender procedure for the design and construction of a battery energy storage facility with a capacity of up to 400 MW and a minimum capacity of 800 MWh, PGE announced in a press release. The investment will be carried out at the Dolna Odra Power Plant in Nowe Czarnowo near Gryfino (Western Pomeranian region).


"The launch of the tender procedure for the construction of a new, large-scale battery energy storage facility in Gryfino with a capacity of 400 MW and 800 MWh is another important step in the implementation of our strategy in the storage segment," said PGE's CEO Dariusz Marzec, quoted in the press release.

"It assumes an increase in the total capacity of energy storage facilities in the PGE Group to 18.5 GWh in 2035," he added.

CEO Marzec continued that the investment will be launched in 2029 and has already secured a 17-year contract on the capacity market.

The tender announcement, which was published on August 1, 2025, is being conducted as an open tender. The deadline for submitting applications is September 16, 2025.
