Poland as most attractive investment destination in CEE for German companies - report

Poland remains the most attractive investment destination in Central and Eastern Europe for German companies, according to a study carried out by consulting firm KPMG and the German Eastern Business Association. In 2026, 56 pct of companies from Germany planning investments in the region pointed to Poland as their preferred location for capital allocation.

Compared with the previous year, Poland recorded the largest increase in investor interest in terms of planned investments, followed by the Czech Republic and Ukraine, while Serbia, Hungary and Romania experienced declines.

Poland stands out particularly within the region, remaining its economic mainstay, although - despite the ongoing war - German companies also recognise the significant potential of the Ukrainian market, the study has shown.

"It is particularly noteworthy that organisations are not only planning investments but also anticipating an increase in employment over the long term. This means that investment decisions are strategic in nature and are linked to the establishment of a sustainable operational presence," said Radoslaw Jankie, Partner, Advisory, Head of the Shared Services and Outsourcing Centres Team at KPMG in Poland, as quoted in the press release.

"In the Polish context, this is particularly visible in the dynamic development of the services sector. Poland remains one of the most attractive locations for Shared Services and Business Process Outsourcing centres in Europe, and the growing interest of German companies in higher value-added functions such as finance, HR, IT, and even the handling of advanced business processes (supply chain, working capital, direct sales support) further strengthens this position," he added

The study results confirm that the CEE region, and Poland in particular, remains one of the main beneficiaries of the reorganisation of European value chains, also in the services dimension, Jankie pointed out.
