PZU SAPolish govt approves bill allowing insurers access to social security number
As part of deregulation, the Polish government adopted a bill enabling insurance companies and the insurance guarantee fund UFG to access data from the Polish social security number PESEL restriction registry, Prime Minister's office KPRM wrote in the statement. This aims to prevent illegal compulsory motor insurance contracts.
"The possibility for insurance companies to obtain data from the Polish social security number PESEL restriction registry will enhance citizen protection. The new regulations respond to cases of misuse of personal data for illegal compulsory motor insurance contracts," KPRM stated.
The change will enable insurers and the insurance guarantee fund UFG to block such fraudulent contracts effectively.
This legislative change is expected to strengthen safeguards against identity theft and fraud in the insurance sector, improving security for policyholders and the market overall.
