Polish President signs act on offshore wind energy
The act promoting electricity generation in offshore wind farms, prepared by the Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiS), has been signed by the President Karol Nawrocki, the climate ministry reported in a statement. The Act will enable the effective conduct of the first auction for offshore wind farms.
"The act will facilitate the implementation of offshore wind energy projects and the efficient conduct of the first auction for offshore wind farms and other renewable energy sources at sea. The act clarifies regulations and fills legal gaps to ensure the auction's success," the statement read.
Poland's energy market regulator URE set the date of the first auction for December 17.
According to the ministry, the act will also enable activities of energy cooperatives in urban municipalities, support the development of tenant prosumers, ease the conclusion of energy purchase agreements by local government units within energy clusters, and meet sustainability criteria as well as greenhouse gas emission reduction criteria for biomass fuels.
