Poland may see room for small interest rates cuts at end-2025, says MPC member
At the end of 2025, there may be room for small interest rate cuts, Poland's Monetary Policy Council member Iwona Duda assessed in an interview with the Interia portal,
"In an optimistic scenario, with the apparent expiration of the remaining risk factors for bringing inflation back to target on a sustained basis, in my view, some possibility of small interest rate cuts may arise in the longer term, rather at the end of the year," Duda said.
Asked if she would vote in favour of an interest rate cut in the second half of the year, the MPC member said: "If the data point to a sustained decline in inflation towards the target in the medium term, then indeed we could then return to discussions on interest rate cuts, although probably on a very small scale".
"This is 0.25 percentage points," she clarified.
