Poland's inflation likely to further go down, says finance minister
The Polish finance minister has said that inflation is expected to further decrease in the coming months.
Poland's statistical office GUS reported on Friday that prices of consumer goods and services (Consumer Price Index, CPI) increased by 4.0 percent year on year in May 2025, against an earlier flash reading of 4.1 percent.
In monthly terms, CPI fell by 0.2 percent in May in line with an earlier flash estimate, GUS said.
"Inflation in May at 4 percent. Slightly below the initial estimate," Minister Andrzej Domanski wrote on the X platform later on Friday, adding that it would likely continue going down, also owing to the lowered gas tariffs.
In late May, the Energy Regulatory Office (URE) said that it had approved a new gas tariff, in accordance with which the net gas price will fall from PLN 239.65/MWh (EUR 56) to PLN 204.26 (EUR 48) as of July 1. (PAP)
