Poland to collaborate with Embraer in defence sector
The Polish Armaments Group (PGZ) and Brazilian aerospace firm Embraer have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on long-term cooperation that stipulates the repair of aircraft and the production of components in Poland.
The state-owned PGZ, Poland's largest and one of Europe's major arms manufacturers, announced on Tuesday that the preliminary agreement concerns its five subsidiaries, primarily those in the aviation sector.
"This move establishes a framework for extensive, long-term collaboration in the aviation and defence sectors, reinforcing Embraer's commitment to strengthening ties with the Polish industry and supporting the creation of highly skilled jobs in Poland," PGZ said in a statement on its website.
The future cooperation is expected to cover operational support, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, components manufacturing, supply chain solutions, and the design, development, production, industrialisation, engineering, and testing of aerospace products.
PGZ's deputy CEO Jan Grabowski was quoted as saying that the partnership with the Brazilian aviation giant "will translate into increased potential for the Polish defence industry, technology transfer, and the acquisition of new competencies in one of the key areas of the modern battlefield."
