Polish ministries want to find compromise in regulations on energy storage facilities
Poland's Ministry of Economic Development and Technology (MRiT) and the Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiS) will take a fresh look during parliamentary work at the draft regulation for investors installing energy storage facilities; the ministries declare that a compromise will be found on the issue, economic development minister Krzysztof Paszyk told a press conference.
"I want to assure you that we will take a fresh look during the course of parliamentary work at the issue of the capacity threshold for energy storage facilities, from which there will be any obligations required of investors who install these storage facilities," Paszyk said.
"We will do this together with the Ministry of Climate and Environment. (...) We will find a compromise between the freedom of installation, the removal of any unnecessary barriers and obligations, and the safety requirements," he added.
According to the amendment to the construction law adopted by the Council of Ministers as part of deregulation process, the exemption from the obligation to obtain a construction permit will only apply to energy storage facilities with a nominal capacity of up to 20 kWh. Devices exceeding this threshold will require a full administrative procedure, identical to, for example, wind farms or large photovoltaic installations.
Representatives of the Polish RES industry assessed that the regulations being drafted by MRiT impose strict requirements for the installation of energy storage facilities in buildings and the distance of energy storage facilities from them.
