Budimex SABudimex considers PGE GiEK's charge of penalty for Turow unit unjustified
PGE's mining and conventional energy unit GiEK has issued a debit note in the amount of PLN 356.9 million (EUR 82.3 mln) to the consortium of Mitsubishi Power Europe Gmbh, Tecnicas Reunidas and listed builder Budimex, which carried out the Turow unit, Budimex said in a press release. Budimex considers the charge to be unjustified. The debit note will not be recognized in the company's books.
As stated, the basis for the debit note issued by the ordering party is the consortium's disputed responsibility for failing to remove defects in the delivered technological equipment and construction work on time. The note was issued to the consortium members as joint and several debtors.
The consortium was executing a project for PGE GiEK, which included the design and turnkey construction of a power unit in Turow.
Budimex's share in the consortium is 23.58 percent.
"At the same time, Budimex's management announces that as part of its participation in the consortium, it is not responsible for the supply of key technological equipment," t added.
