Bank Pekao SAPekao lender posts over PLN 1.6 bln net profit in Q2 2025, above expectations
The net profit of the listed lender Pekao group in the second quarter of 2025 increased to PLN 1.601 billion (EUR 373.8 mln) from PLN 1.419 billion (EUR 331.3 mln) a year earlier, the bank said in a report. The profit turned out to be 3.1 percent above analysts' expectations, who had forecast that it would amount to PLN 1.553 billion (EUR 362.6 mln).
The expectations of eight brokerage houses regarding net profit for the second quarter ranged from PLN 1.522 billion (EUR 355.4 mln) to PLN 1.571 billion (EUR 366.8 mln).
Bank Pekao's net profit in the second quarter of 2025 increased by 12.8 percent year on year and decreased by 5 percent quarter on quarter.
Bank Pekao closed the entire first half of 2025 with a net profit of PLN 3.29 billion (EUR 768.2 mln), compared to PLN 2.94 billion (EUR 686.5 mln) a year earlier.
Provision income amounted to PLN 765 million (EUR 178.6 mln), which means that it was 1.7 percent above the consensus of PLN 752 million (EUR 175.6 mln). Commission income increased by 9.8 percent year on year and by 4.5 percent quarter on quarter.
Total administrative expenses, including depreciation and amortisation and excluding bank tax, amounted to PLN 1.402 billion (EUR 327.4 mln) and were 1.1 percent higher than the consensus estimate of PLN 1.387 billion (EUR 323.9 mln). Costs increased by 4.5 percent year on year and decreased by 14.3 percent quarter on quarter.
The balance of provisions amounted to PLN 231 million (EUR 53.9 mln) and was 7.4 percent higher than the consensus estimate of PLN 215.1 million (EUR 50.2 mln). The balance of provisions fell by 0.4 percent year on year and rose by 51 percent compared to the previous quarter.
