Bank Pekao SAPekao lender to present its strategy for 2025-27 in April
Listed lender Bank Pekao maintains its plan to present its strategy for 2025-2027 in April, the bank's CEO Cezary Stypulkowski told reporters on the sidelines of a conference in Warsaw. In his opinion, the plan to create a holding structure by its shareholder, listed insurance group PZU, is a good idea.
"The strategy will be published in the near future, in April, we were waiting for PZU to settle," Stypulkowski told reporters on the sidelines of Banking Forum conference in Warsaw organised by the Polish banking lobby ZBP.
His statement suggests that PZU's plan to create a holding structure is a good idea, as this will result in capital optimisation and a clearer management structure within the group.
On Thursday, PZU said that the 2025-2027 strategy announced in December was not going to be updated and that the insurer's management was analysing options for the operation of its banking assets in the group but needed more time to work out the optimal solution.
The acting CEO of PZU Andrzej Klesyk said that the presentation of the target scenario for the group's banks would take place in the third quarter of 2025. He reported that the PZU group was working on creating a holding structure and expressed his hope that after the change, the efficiency of the group's capital management would improve.
At the beginning of December, PZU published its strategy for 2025-27, which included simplifying the group's structure and consolidating banking assets. The insurer reported that it planned to sell its shares in listed lender Alior to Pekao in order to generate value for the PZU group and other shareholders of both banks.
