Poland to announce news on extension of capacity market in coming days
Poland is at an advanced stage of discussions with the European Commission on the concept of extending the functioning of the capacity market, and in the coming days it will be announced what these solutions will look like in order to ensure sufficient capacity in the system in 2029, 2030 and beyond, according to Wojciech Wrochna, the government's plenipotentiary for strategic energy infrastructure.
"We are already well advanced in terms of preparing the concept and discussing it with the European Commission with regard to extending the functioning of the capacity market," said Wrochna during a conference on the anti-blackout package.
"In the coming days, after the final round of consultations, we will communicate what these solutions will look like in order to ensure sufficient capacity in the system in 2029, 2030 and beyond," he added.
He added that the aim is to ensure that the Polish power system can operate safely and that the stability of generation capacity is ensured, "while keeping an eye on the costs associated with maintaining an adequate level of reserves."
