Poland's digital affairs ministry to present digital tax model for big tech soon (interview)
The Ministry of Digital Affairs will unveil a model for a digital tax on big tech revenues in Poland within the coming months, deputy Prime Minister, digital affairs minister Krzysztof Gawskowski told an interview with PAP Biznes.
The proposed tax aims to generate funds for supporting the development of local tech firms and startups.
"We are aware that a large digital market has developed in Poland, and domestic companies need significant technological and financial support," Gawkowski stated.
He stressed that the tax could transfer profits from major global corporations to the Polish budget, which would then benefit local technology firms and media content creation.
"It's a matter of social justice; digital giants make substantial profits in our market, and we want part of that revenue to return to the Polish budget," he added.
The ministry has already begun consultations with industry representatives regarding the new tax framework.
