Poland's energy market regulator resolves CHP premium auction with PLN 1.37 bln of support secured

Poland's energy market regulator URE has resolved the first auction for the cogeneration premium in 2025; support will be granted to six generators, including companies from listed power utility PGE group and Veolia, URE said in a statement. The value of the contracted support is more than PLN 1.37 billion (EUR 327.84 mln).

"The head of Poland's energy market regulator URE has resolved the auction for the CHP premium for entities generating electricity and heat in cogeneration," URE announced.

"Support will go to six companies that have committed to generate, feed into the grid and sell more than 5.7 TWh of energy from high-efficiency cogeneration. The value of the contracted support is more than PLN 1.37 billion," it added.

The regulator reported that the winning bids were submitted by six companies: CALOR Energetyka Cieplna Sp. z o.o. based in Wojkowice, Miejska Energetyka Cieplna Sp. z o.o. based in Koszalin, Miejskie Przedsiebiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej Sp. z o.o. based in Brzesko, PGE Energia Ciepla S.A. based in Warsaw, Veolia Poludnie Sp. z o.o. based in Tarnowskie Gory and Veolia Połnoc Sp. z o.o. based in Swiecie.

"The minimum premium indicated in the winning bids is PLN 219.00/MWh, while the maximum is PLN 248.80/MWh," URE said in the statement.

It was stipulated that the cogeneration premium may be adjusted after the auction is resolved if investment aid is granted to the generators.

"Due to the investment premium (for the construction of new generation sources) previously granted to the entities, the minimum cogeneration premium to be paid to the companies whose bids won the auction will be PLN 197.90/MWh. The maximum amount of premium paid will be PLN 248.80/MWh," it added.
