Poland's GDP may be reduced by 0.4 pct due to US tariffs, says PM
According to a preliminary assessment, new US tariffs may reduce Poland's GDP by 0.4 percent, Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on X. As he pointed out, in a conservative simplification, the losses will exceed PLN 10 billion (EUR 2.4 bln).
"According to a preliminary assessment, new US tariffs may reduce Polish GDP by 0.4 percent, this is in a cautious simplification, the losses will exceed PLN 10 billion," the Prime Minister wrote on X.
"A severe and unpleasant blow because from our closest ally, but we will survive it. Our Polish-American friendship must also stand the test," he added.
The regulation signed by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday imposes “reciprocal tariffs” of at least 10 percent on goods imported from abroad; for goods from the EU, it will be 20 percent. The rates announced by the US are to be half of the combined tariffs and non-tariff trade barriers applied by other countries.
Also on Thursday morning, Poland's Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski referred to the US announced tariffs.
"This is not an optimistic morning for consumers and businesses, but Poland and Europe will come out stronger," Domanski wrote on X.
