Poland's nuclear power SPV notifies EC of first nuclear power plant project
Poland's 100-percent state-owned nuclear power SPV PEJ has notified the European Commission of the country's first nuclear power plant project, the company said in a press release.
As stated, the notification includes a detailed description of the project, which aims to build a safe and low-carbon nuclear power plant in Pomerania.
At the same time, a notification process is underway regarding state aid for the first Polish nuclear power plant.
The purpose of the investor's notification of the investment project under the Euratom Treaty is to enable the European Commission to assess the project in terms of its compliance with the objectives of the Euratom Treaty, including in particular safety issues and the technical and economic aspects of the project.
"By notifying the project, we confirm the progress already made in the implementation of the investment and our proactive approach to further implementation activities," said PEJ's CEO Marek Woszczyk, quoted in the press release.
The result of the notification procedure will be the European Commission's opinion on the project for the first nuclear power plant in Poland. This opinion is necessary, among other things, to obtain a construction permit issued by the head of the National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA).
