Poland's thermal coal prices up 1.7 pct m/m in February - state agency ARP
Poland's thermal coal prices increased by 1.7 percent month on month in February 2025 to PLN 366.78 (EUR 87.7) per tonne, while for the heat market they fell by 5.4 percent to PLN 467.53 (EUR 11.79) per tonne, according to an analysis of price indices jointly created by the state industrial development agency ARP and the TGE Polish commodity exchange.
The situation on the domestic steam coal market is illustrated by two indices, based on monthly ex-post data and expressing the selling price of hard coal, in a quality adapted to the needs of customers.
The PSCMI1 index (Polish Steam Coal Market Index) expresses the price of coal for the so-called professional and industrial power industry, while the PSCMI2 index expresses the price of coal for industrial and municipal heating plants. The value expressed in the indices is the net price of coal 'on the wagon' at the point of loading - excluding excise tax, insurance costs and delivery costs.
The PSCMI1 index's result in February 2024 appreciated by 1.7 percent month on month and decline by 24.4 percent year on year, amounting to PLN 366.78 (EUR 87.7) per tonne.
The PSCMI2 index decreased by 5.4 percent month on month and deteriorated by 23.0 percent year on year, to PLN 467.53 (EUR 11.79) per tonne.
