Poland's thermal coal prices down 0.9 pct m/m in April - state agency ARP
Poland's thermal coal prices decreased by 0.9 percent month on month in April to PLN 353.63 (EUR 83.07) per tonne, while for the heat market they fell by 1.1 percent to PLN 477.75 (EUR 112.22) per tonne, according to an analysis of price indices jointly created by the state-owned Industrial Development Agency (ARP) and the Polish commodity exchange TGE.
The situation on the domestic steam coal market is illustrated by two indices, based on monthly ex-post data and expressing the selling price of hard coal, in a quality adapted to the needs of customers.
The PSCMI1 index (Polish Steam Coal Market Index) expresses the price of coal for the so-called professional and industrial power industry, while the PSCMI2 index expresses the price of coal for industrial and municipal heating plants. The value expressed in the indices is the net price of coal 'on the wagon' at the point of loading - excluding excise tax, insurance costs and delivery costs.
The PSCMI1 index's result in April 2025 deteriorated by 0.9 percent month on month and by 29.7 percent year on year, amounting to PLN 353.63 (EUR 83.07) per tonne.
The PSCMI2 index decreased by 1.1 percent month on month and by 13.4 percent year on year to PLN 477.75 (EUR 112.22) per tonne.
