WP Holding SAPolish billionaire Solowow withdraws from TVN takeover plans - media
Polish billionaire Michal Solowow has withdrawn from plans to acquire TVN from US-based Warner Bros Discovery, according to unofficial findings by Business Insider Polska. The portal indicates that, to its knowledge, the reason for the abandonment of the plans is the market turbulence related to Donald Trump's customs policy.
The sale of TVN, valued at approximately EUR 1 billion, has attracted significant interest from multiple parties. Among the bidders are Polish billionaire Michal Solowow, a consortium of around 30 Polish investors led by Wirtualna Polska, and Ringier Axel Springer Polska in partnership with CVC Capital Partners, a major shareholder in Zabka retailer and Comarch IT.
In mid-December, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the inclusion of TVN on a list of protected entities to prevent a hostile takeover of the company. Telewizja Polsat is also on the list.
In addition to the media entities, P4, T-Mobile and WB Electronics have also been placed on the list. The regulation is expected to be in force for three years.
