Polish ruling coalition prepares its own draft bill on freezing electricity prices in last quarter, says energy minister
We are preparing solutions that will protect Poles from electricity price increases, said energy minister Milosz Motyka at a conference. He also announced work on unlocking the potential of renewable energy sources.
"We are preparing solutions that will protect Poles from electricity price increases," said Motyka.
He emphasized that the ruling coalition is preparing its own draft bill on freezing electricity prices for households in the last quarter of the year.
"We will be ready with our own draft (...), we will prepare a draft that we hope will be signed, but it will be our draft (...) in such a timeframe that Poles will not feel the increases," he added.
On Thursday, Poland's President Karol Nawrocki has vetoed the wind farm draft bill on, among other things, lowering the minimum distance requirement for wind farms and provisions on freezing energy prices, Nawrocki announced at a press conference. He added that he will submit a bill freezing energy prices to Polish parliament separately.
Also on Thursday, Poland's Ministry of Climate and Environment (MKiS) wants to resubmit the so-called wind farm bill, although slightly modified, to the lower house of parliament Sejm as soon as possible, minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska told a conference.
