Poland current account near balance in January - MinFin
Poland’s current account balance on a liquid year basis declined in January 2025 and was close to balance, against a surplus of 0.1 percent of GDP previously, the Ministry of Finance reported.
"The current account balance in January 2025 in liquid year terms declined and was close to balance," the finance ministry wrote in a report.
"For the ninth consecutive month, the annual growth rate of imports was clearly higher than that of exports. As in previous months, exports were most weakened by lower foreign sales of transport equipment," it added.
In the case of imports, there was a large increase in imports of consumer goods, primarily semi-durable and non-durable goods.
"In addition, fuel shipments were higher than in previous months. The capital account surplus amounted to 0.3 percent of GDP increasing the positive loan/debt ratio (0.3 percent of GDP)," the ministry reported.
