Poland records PLN 5.3 bln on account of Poles' work abroad in Q2 2025 - central bank
In the second quarter of 2025, PLN 5.3 billion (EUR 1.24 bln) flowed to the country on account of Poles working abroad, the same amount as in the prior year period, Poland's central bank NBP said in its full quarterly balance of payments.
"In the second quarter of 2025, PLN 5.3 billion was transferred to the country from Poles working abroad. This amount consisted of transfers from short-term migrants to the tune of PLN 2.4 billion (i.e. 45.2 percent of the total transfers) and from long-term migrants in the amount of PLN 2.9 billion (i.e. 54.8 percent of the total amount)," the NBP reported.
"Compared to the prior year period, the total volume [amount - PAP ed.] of transfers remained unchanged," it added.
Geographically, there was a slight decrease recorded in funds sent to Poland from Germany, but this was offset by small increases in other countries.
Germany remained as the country with the highest value of remittances. In the second quarter of 2025, Poles working there transferred PLN 2.6 billion (EUR 610.5 mln) to the country.
United Kingdom came in second, with a total of PLN 600 million (EUR 140.9 mln) sent by the Polish citizens working there. In total, transfers from these two countries accounted for 57.3 percent of all transfers.
