Poland's banking sentiment indicator Pengab up by 3.2 pts m/m to 29.2 pts in June

Poland's banking sentiment indicator Pengab has risen by 3.2 points month on month to 29.2 points in June, a report from the Polish banking lobby ZBP and business consultancy firm Mind & Roses showed. According to experts, seasonal economic climate favours credit demand.


The forecasting index increased by 6.5 points month on month to 29.4, with the rating index falling by 0.3 points month on month to 28.9.

"In June, a strong correction was observed in the activity of both individuals and businesses in the credit market. There was a marked improvement in the reading of corporate deposits," said Marcin Idzik of Minds&Roses, quoted in the report.

"There were negative changes in the readings of the six-month forecasts of the economic situation of households, businesses and the country's economy," he added.

The outlook index for business loans recorded 31 points in June, a decrease of 2 points from the previous month. The ratings index recorded 18 points, down 8 points on the previous month.

It was reported that in June there was a month-on-month improvement in the six-month forecast reading for investment loans and corporate working capital loans. Deterioration was recorded for corporate term deposits also of individuals and consumer loans.

The forecast for the economic situation of businesses is 24 points, down 9 points month on month and up 11 points year on year. The forecast for the economic situation of households is 10 points, down 15 points month on month and 10 points higher year on year.

The forecast for the economic situation of the country's economy is 10 points, a month on month decrease of 19 points and a year on year decrease of 6 points.

The bank branch survey was conducted between June 4 and 16.
