Poland's MinFin hopes to issue Treasury bills based on new benchmark at end-2025
Poland's Ministry of Finance hopes to issue Treasury bills based on a new benchmark at the end of 2025 and is determined to promote and apply the new benchmark, the deputy finance minister Jurand Drop told journalists behind the scenes of the European Capital Markets Forum in Warsaw.
"Firstly, we are determined to use this benchmark, to promote it. At the moment, as part of the market, we are co-participating in the so-called roadmap and filling in the milestones of it," Drop said.
As the deputy minister of finance pointed out, this requires some preparation, especially the legal ones.
"I hope to issue Treasury bills this year; it will rather happen at the end of the year. We intend to conduct an issue based on a new benchmark," he added.
The Steering Committee of the National Working Group (KS NGR) has selected the WIRF- index in December as the target benchmark to replace WIBOR. The final name of the benchmark will be decided in the course of further work.
