Poland's PM announces PLN 13 bln for modernisation of law enforcement and security agencies
Poland's government is set to adopt a draft bill allocating PLN 13 billion (EUR 3.1 bln) to the modernisation of the Police, Border Guard, Firefighters and the Polish State Protection Service, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced before a government meeting. He added that this would mainly involve equipping the Police and Border Guard with state-of-the-art equipment.
The Prime Minister announced that on Tuesday, the government is to adopt a draft bill establishing a programme for the modernisation of the Police, Border Guard, Firefighters and State Protection Service in 2026-2029.
"This is a record PLN 13 billion allocated for the modernisation of the Police, Border Guard, Firefighters and State Protection Service. I do not need to explain to anyone how important the modernisation of these services is today. We have paid particular attention here to equipping the Police and Border Guard with state-of-the-art equipment," Tusk said.
He added that these services are often involved in various versions of new types of warfare, as it is difficult to describe the hybrid activities organised by Russia in any other way.
"That is why we have decided to allocate PLN 13 billion for modernisation. This includes both renovations and the construction of new facilities such as district police headquarters, and of course equipment," he added, also mentioning drone technology and cybertechniques for detecting drone threats for the Border Guard.
