Raising tax-free allowance to PLN 60k in 2026 would cost PLN 55.9 bln, says Finance Ministry
The Finance Ministry has estimated that increasing the tax-free allowance to PLN 60,000 (EUR 14,298) in 2026 would reduce state budget revenues by PLN 55.9 billion (EUR 13.3 bln), the ministry said in response to a parliamentary question. The ministry clarified that such tax changes will only be feasible under favourable economic and geopolitical conditions.
"Although the coalition agreement does not explicitly include raising the tax-free allowance from PLN 30,000 to PLN 60,000, the government has not abandoned its campaign promise to implement this change," the ministry stated.
It emphasized that the decision depends on the state of public finances and external factors.
The ministry also highlighted that tax reforms must be introduced responsibly, ensuring fiscal stability.
It noted that reductions in tax revenues, including from personal income tax (PIT), will only be considered when circumstances allow for such adjustments.
