Grupa Azoty SAAzoty chemicals notices improvement in agro segment
Listed chemicals group Azoty sees an improvement in the agro segment, but expects the full effects of increased tariffs on fertilisers from Russia and Belarus to be felt from the beginning of next year, management board representatives told a press conference following the release of Azoty's quarterly report.
"The environment in the agricultural segment is improving. The tariffs introduced at the beginning of July are already bringing some results, but we will have to wait until the beginning of next year to see the full effects of the new regulations," CEO Skolmowski assessed at the conference.
According to Andrzej Dawidowski, deputy CEO of Grupa Azoty and CEO of Grupa Azoty Police, record imports in the first half of 2025 compared to previous years meant that these products are still in Poland, in transhipment terminals, and are being delivered to farmers and distributors at prices from before the introduction of customs duties.
"We expect this element of sales to cause a delay of about six months in relation to the introduction of customs duties, which means that the effect on Grupa Azoty will be most visible from January 1, 2026," Dawidowski said.
He pointed out that another increase in customs duties on products from Russia and Belarus is expected from the second half of 2026.
When asked about the impact of these customs regulations on price lists, Azoty's deputy CEO assessed that the increase in fertiliser prices in Poland is not significant and does not reflect the increase in prices in other European Union countries.
In the third quarter, Azoty's EBITDA in the agro segment amounted to PLN 72.9 million (EUR 17.2 mln) against a loss of PLN 80.7 million (EUR 19.1 mln) in the prior year period.
