Poland's defence minister announces major investment in military infrastructure
More than PLN 1.1 billion (EUR 259.7 mln) has been allocated for infrastructure investments of the 18th Mechanised Division in Siedlce, central Poland, the minister of national defence and Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Thursday.
During a visit to the division's headquarters in Siedlce, Kosiniak-Kamysz said the project, involving 17 facilities built in cooperation with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency, was nearing completion.
He added that the new infrastructure, built in line with NATO standards, would improve service conditions for soldiers.
The minister also said nearly PLN 7 billion (EUR 1.65 billion) would be spent this year on military infrastructure projects across 32 locations.
"Modern infrastructure, along with training and equipment, is the foundation of national security," he stressed.
Kosiniak-Kamysz said that the 18th Division had taken part in the Safe Podlasie operation and would return to the border in February 2026. He also thanked its troops for helping flood victims and supporting work on the Shield East defence project.
