Polenergia SAService facilities for vessels building OWFs with PLN 900 mln from recovery plan KPO
The construction of industrial and service facilities to serve installation vessels building offshore wind farms will receive PLN 900 million (EUR 209.2 mln) in co-financing from the national recovery plan KPO, the Polish government's European funds portal reported.
"An industrial and service facility will be built in the port of Gdansk to service installation vessels in the construction and operation of offshore wind farms," it wrote.
"The Centre for EU Transport Projects CEUTP has signed an agreement with the contractor for the installation terminal. The investment will receive over PLN 900 million in funding from the national recovery plan KPO," it added.
The release states that the construction of the installation terminal is a key element of the infrastructure supporting the development of renewable energy sources in the Polish Baltic Sea.
Reducing the distance between the terminals and the location of offshore wind farm investments will not only reduce costs, but will also help to ensure the timely implementation of the investments.
The total cost of the project in Gdansk is almost PLN 1.18 billion (EUR 274.2 mln), including an EU subsidy of more than PLN 900 million (EUR 209.2 mln). The subsidy will be received by the Istrana company, which will be responsible for the construction of the terminal.
The investment, supported by the national recovery plan KPO, is expected to be completed in 2026.
