Polish individual retirement pension and protection accounts hit total of PLN 34.9 bln accumulated at end-2024
At the end 2024, PLN 22.8 billion (EUR 5.5 bln) was accumulated in individual retirement accounts (IKE), up by PLN 4.14 billion (EUR 997.3 mln) from the end of 2023. Individual retirement protection (IKZE) saw PLN 12.1 billion (EUR 2.9 bln) accumulated, up by PLN 2.66 billion (EUR 640.8 mln) at the end of the year, according to Poland's financial market regulator KNF data.
As at the end of December 2024, there were 964,600 IKE accounts in operation, up from 859,900 at the end of 2023, including 567,700 into which payments were made during the reporting period.
In 2024, a total of PLN 4.14 billion (EUR 996.5 mln) was paid into IKE accounts versus PLN 2.87 billion (EUR 670.7 mln) in the whole of 2023.
The average deposit was PLN 7,300 (EUR 1,757) against an annual deposit limit of PLN 23,470 (EUR 5,649).
At the end of 2024, there were 593,100 IKZE accounts, up from 514,680 at the end of 2023. 398,000 of the accounts were paid in.
In 2024, a total of PLN 2.66 billion (EUR 640.3 mln) was paid in versus PLN 1.83 billion (EUR 440.5 mln) in the whole of 2023.
The average deposit was PLN 6,700 (EUR 1,612) against an annual limit of PLN 9,400 (EUR 2,262), and PLN 11,200 (EUR 2,696) for people with an annual limit of PLN 14,000 (EUR 3,370).
