Grupa Azoty SAAzoty chemicals receives over PLN 44.2 mln of government aid
Listed chemicals group Azoty has received more than PLN 44.2 million (EUR 10.34 mln) under the government programme ‘Aid for energy-intensive industry related to natural gas and electricity prices in 2024’, run by Poland's National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW), Grupa Azoty announced on X.
Grupa Azoty is the EU's second largest producer of nitrogen and compound fertilisers. It is the only melamine producer in Poland. It also manufactures products such as polyamide, OXO alcohols, plasticisers and titanium white. Azoty group is a joint-stock company in which the State Treasury holds 33 percent of the shares.
From November 22 to December 5, 2024, Poland's National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW) conducted a call for applications in the programme ‘Aid to energy-intensive industry related to natural gas and electricity prices in 2024’, intended for companies in the mining and industrial processing sector. The budget of the call was almost PLN 943 million (EUR 220.6 mln).
The aim of the programme is to provide financial support to energy-intensive companies that have incurred additional costs due to high electricity and natural gas prices in the first half of 2024. Assistance to the companies is provided by the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, and NFOSiGW is the programme operator.
