JSW SAJSW coal plans to keep increasing output with each quarter of 2025, says deputy CEO
Listed coking coal group JSW plans to increase its output with each consecutive quarter of 2025, the group's deputy CEO Adam Rozmus told a videoconference.
"As a rule, we do not publish forecasts in terms of mining output, but (...) we are at a good point. In many aspects, in many elements, we have rebuilt fronts," Rozmus said.
"As a result, I declare that each quarter will be higher than the previous one," he added.
According to JSW's deputy CEO, the group is currently not changing its output assumptions for 2026.
"The target of 14.5 million tonnes of coking coal has been set for 2026. I believe that a number of actions we are taking as part of the strategic transformation plan, as part of our ongoing operational work, will allow us to achieve this target," Rozmus said.
Asked if the management board maintained that the loss of output volume in 2025 due to the methane ignition at the Knurow-Szczyglowice Ruch Szczyglowice mine would be 800,000 tonnes, he said: "We are doing everything to minimise the impact of this incident by optimising operations not only at the Knurow-Szczyglowice mine, but also at the other JSW mines".
Total coal output at JSW's mines in 2024 amounted to 12.3 million tonnes, against 13.5 million tonnes in 2023, of which coking coal production reached 9.9 million tonnes (versus 10.9 million tonnes a year ago).
