JSW SAJSW launches new longwalls at Pniowek mine
At the end of June, listed coking coal producer JSW launched a new K-2 longwall at the Pniowek mine, and in July it plans to start operating another one - W-2, the company said in a press release.
The total resources of both longwalls exceed 840,000 tonnes of high-quality coking coal.
According to the announcement, the planned average output from the K-2 longwall is 2,700 tonnes per day. The planned average output from the W-2 longwall is 2,300 tonnes per day.
According to Adam Rozmus, deputy CEO of JSW, the launch of new longwalls is part of the reconstruction of the mining faces after the disaster in April 2022.
"The Pniowek mine is consistently rebuilding its mining faces and gradually returning to the operation of longwalls with longer runs," said deputy CEO Adam Rozmus.
"What is more, we are implementing solutions in the new longwalls as part of the Effective Mine initiative, which is part of the Strategic Transformation Plan. The aim of these activities is to increase work efficiency and improve mining results," he added.
Currently, five longwalls are in operation at the Pniowek mine.
