KGHM Polska Miedź SAKGHM copper signs another contract with Tele-Fonika Kable worth around PLN 6.9-9.7 bln
Listed copper producer KGHM Polska Miedz has signed another contract with Tele-Fonika Kable for the supply of copper wire rod in 2026-2030, KGHM announced in a press release. The estimated value of the contract will range from PLN 6.9 billion (EUR 1.61 bln) to a maximum of PLN 9.7 billion (EUR 2.27 bln).
"The cooperation between KGHM and Tele-Fonika Kable is a strategic partnership for the energy transformation of the Polish and European economies. By utilising domestic resources, expertise and technology, Polish industry is able to actively compete on the European and global markets, offering modern and proven technological solutions," said Andrzej Szydlo, CEO of KGHM, quoted in the release.
"Tele-Fonika Kable is one of the key customers for copper wire rod produced by KGHM," he added.
A member of the management board of Tele-Fonika Kable and Executive Director for Supply Chain and Investments at JDR Cable Systems pointed out that stable supplies of raw materials are crucial to ensuring the continuity of production of cables used in the energy transition, both in projects implemented in Poland and on international markets.
Copper wire rod with a diameter of 8 mm is one of KGHM's main products. The product is mainly used in the cable, electrical machinery and electrical engineering industries. In 2024, KGHM's production of wire rod and wire reached 287,200 tonnes, placing the company among the leading European producers of these copper intermediates.
