mBank SAmBank lender's strategy realistic, based on high margin and operational efficiency, says CEO
The strategy for 2026-2030 presented by mBank, Warsaw-listed unit of Commerzbank, is realistic and based on high profitability and operational efficiency, CEO Cezary Kocik told a press conference.
mBank presented the guidelines of its new strategy last week. On Tuesday, a conference for journalists and analysts was held, during which the management board shared more details.
"We have heard analysts say that our new strategy is ambitious, but I consider it realistic. We have prepared for it seriously and analysed market trends," mBank's CEO Kocik told the press conference.
"High profitability and operational efficiency will be the basis of the new shareholder return strategy," he added.

Below are the key points of mBank's strategy for 2026-2030.
* Return to dividend payments from net profit for 2026, with plans to increase the payout ratio to 75 percent in 2030;
* The mBank group's net profit will triple over the strategy horizon;
* Strategic goal: over 10 percent market share in each of the key areas, including retail and corporate deposits and loans;
* Over 10 percent market share in corporate loans against 8.1 percent at the end of 2024, which translates into an increase in the loan portfolio of approximately PLN 20 billion (EUR 4.7 bln);
* Total revenue growth CAGR of 7.8 percent, total cost growth CAGR of 4.5 percent;
* Risk costs of approximately 0.8 percent without reducing risk appetite;
* Maintaining the cost/income ratio at or below 35 percent and remaining among the top three most efficient banks in this area;
* ROTE (return on tangible equity of mBank group) above 22 percent throughout the strategy horizon;
* 15 percent of corporate lending exposure to sustainable, transformational and impact finance in 2030, up from 11 percent in 2024;
* Development of investment banking services, becoming the bank of choice for private equity clients, support for M&A transactions in the CEE and DACH regions;
* mBank group's lending volumes will grow faster than the market in both business segments (retail lending growth CAGR of 12 percent, corporate lending growth CAGR of 7 percent, financing of high-potential sectors, including energy and green transition, digitisation and defence)
* mBank group's deposit volumes will grow faster than the market in both business segments (retail loan growth CAGR of 10 percent, corporate deposit growth CAGR of 4 percent).
