Orlen SAOrlen extends LNG transshipment contract at Klaipeda until March 2030
Poland's largest energy concern Orlen has entered into a five-year agreement with Lithuanian KN Energies (formerly Klaipedos Nafta) for the exclusive use of a small-scale onshore LNG receiving and transshipment station in Klaipeda, Orlen said in a press release.
"The extension of the cooperation with KN Energies is an important step in further strengthening Orlen Group's position in the Baltic LNG market. While the Swinoujscie gas port remains a key LNG receiving point for us, the Klaipeda transhipment terminal plays an important complementary role and allows us to optimise logistics costs," said Orlen's CEO Ireneusz Fafara, quoted in the press release.
"The raw material received here, apart from the Polish market, goes (...) to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, where we are observing a growing interest in cooperation with Orlen," he added.
As stated, the contract with KN Energies will last until the end of March 2030. The gas received at this terminal will supply consumers in north-eastern Poland and will reach, among others, the markets of the Baltic countries.
To date, the company has taken delivery of almost 60,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas in Klaipeda under an earlier agreement.
The Group also receives large-scale LNG in Klaipeda at a floating terminal operated by KN Energies.
