Two Poland's largest energy concern Orlen's Group programmes, Green H2 and Hydrogen Eagle, have received a total of PLN 1.7 billion (EUR 398.9 mln) in non-refundable grant funding from the national recovery plan KPO, the group said in a press release.
As stated, the grant support will be used to produce renewable hydrogen through RES-powered electrolysis and low-emission hydrogen produced from municipal waste.
The development of hydrogen technology is a key element of Orlen's strategy.
"In the outlook until 2035, the corporation aims to expand its portfolio of hydrogen production projects through the electrolysis process with a total capacity of about 0.9 GW, of which about 0.7 GW is planned in Poland," the release wrote.
Hydrogen Eagle is Orlen Group's investment programme to build diversified sources of renewable and low-emission hydrogen.
Green H2 is a project by Lotos Green H2, a special purpose vehicle within the Orlen group, which aims to produce renewable hydrogen to be used in refinery processes for fuel production in Gdansk.
The competition is operated by Poland's state development bank BGK and the money comes from the national recovery plan KPO.
