PGE SAPGE Baltica, CRIST, WIKE and GP Baltic want cooperation on installation and service vessels
Listed power utility PGE's offshore unit PGE Baltica has signed a letter of intent with CRIST and its special purpose vehicle WIKE, as well as with the Baltic Industrial Group, which provides for cooperation in the design and construction of installation and service vessels for offshore wind farms, PGE announced in a market filing.
"Investors, future operators of offshore wind farms, as well as suppliers and subcontractors are keen to see as many Polish companies as possible take an active and broad part in the supply chain for offshore wind energy in Poland," said Dariusz Marzec, CEO of PGE.
"In order to achieve a level of involvement of Polish industry in the construction of offshore wind farms that is satisfactory to all and thus create an appropriate value chain, we must work together and take a long-term approach," he added.
The CRIST shipyard is the only one in Europe to have built three vessels for the installation of offshore wind farms and several vessels for servicing offshore wind farms.
It is currently building a modern cable-laying vessel and several service vessels for offshore wind farms for foreign contractors.
According to the letter of intent, CRIST, WIKE and the Baltic Industrial Group, which is part of the Industrial Development Agency, have declared their participation in tender procedures for the chartering of ships – installation and service vessels – needed to implement the PGE Group's future offshore projects.
Any contracts, including reservation agreements, will be concluded based on project-specific procurement regulations.
