PGE SAPGE power completes first stage of work on preliminary analysis for nuclear power plant construction
The first stage of work aimed at conducting a preliminary analysis of the feasibility of building a nuclear power plant in the Belchatow region has been completed, CEO of listed power utility PGE Dariusz Marzec announced on X.
"We have completed the first stage of work aimed at conducting a preliminary analysis of the feasibility of building a nuclear power plant in the Belchatow region. The analytical work, which included a review of archival geological and environmental data, indicates that the region may meet the criteria required for such an investment. These results pave the way for further in-depth field research," CEO Marzec wrote on X.
"We plan to start the next stage of research work, including the preparation of a cooling water study and the first boreholes to explore local geological conditions. All analyses and studies are conducted in a technologically neutral manner," he added.
The CEO of PGE pointed out that, in accordance with the Polish Nuclear Energy Programme (PPEJ), the decision on the technology to be used for Poland's second nuclear power plant will be made by the Polish government.
