Poland's transportation hub CPK and Korea National Railway sign cooperation deal on high-speed rail
Poland's central transportation hub CPK and Korea National Railway KNR have signed a cooperation agreement to exchange knowledge and experience in the area of building the high-speed rail (HSR) network in Poland, CPK said in a market filing.
"CPK and Korea National Railway have signed a cooperation agreement. The (Korean - PAP) company responsible for, among other things, the construction of the new airport and the HSR as well as the railway infrastructure manager in South Korea will focus on the exchange of knowledge and experience for the development of the HSR network in Poland," CPK reports.
KNR is involved in the planning, construction, modernisation and maintenance of railway infrastructure and the implementation and management of HSR, conventional lines and freight projects.
The agreement with CPK will cover, among other things, tunnel and switch maintenance and rail line diagnostics.
In 2021, CPK signed an agreement with Korean airport operator Incheon, one of the world's largest airports, for consultancy services.
In mid-2023, a Korean consortium of Korea National Railway and Dohwa Engineering won the tender to design a 70km section of the HSR between Katowice and the Polish national border.
