Polenergia renewables and Equinor power count on offshore auction this year

Listed renewables group Polenergia and Norwegian power utility Equinor are counting on an offshore auction in 2025. The two companies offshore wind farm project Baltyk 1 is ready to take part in such an auction, Michal Kolodziejczyk, Equinor's CEO in Poland, said.


"Together with Polenergia, we are developing a project which, if the auction takes place this year and it wins it, will be the largest project ever implemented. We are thinking about a 1.56 GW project," Michal Kolodziejczyk told a conference.

On June 10, Equinor and Polenergia announced that they had submitted an application to Poland's energy market regulator URE for pre-qualification of the Baltyk 1 offshore wind farm project to participate in Poland's first offshore auction, planned for the end of 2025.

The auction will be competitive and will select projects offering the most favourable energy sales prices in a support system settled over 25 years through a contract for difference.

On Wednesday, representatives of PGE announced that the group wants to participate in the December offshore auction.
