Bank Pekao SAPZU insurer's strategy needs clarification on several aspects, says acting CEO
Listed insurance group PZU's strategy will not be changed, but in several aspects it needs to be clarified, which may happen by the end of March, the company's acting CEO Andrzej Klesyk said. He announced greater clarity regarding the future of the group's banks and a clarification of capital management.
"There is no reason for us to change the strategy, but I believe that several aspects of the strategy require precision in definition. At the moment, I think we should, as a management board, come to the market with three potential additions," Klesyk said at a meeting with analysts on Friday.
"Firstly, more clarity about what is going to happen with the banks. It seems to me that we cannot wait until the end of the year and hand over the decisions to the people who manage these banks. We - as the owner - have to be a very strong stakeholder in that decision," he added.
He reported that the capital management in the group should be clarified and there must be 'some kind' of confirmation of the dividend policy.
He also announced the clarification of the issue of long-term value creation in the group.
Klesyk also reported that the strategy could be clarified at the end of March, when the 2024 results are scheduled to be published.
"I can't imagine that when we present the results for 2024, we won't talk about potential changes to the strategy," he added.
The acting CEO indicated that a review of corporate governance was also planned for all group companies. He announced that a document would be drafted to clarify corporate governance rules within the company.
